He ran for a second term in office in the 1975 Alberta general election taking the district with almost 60% of the popular vote, this would be his biggest percentage of victory during his career. He ran for a third term in office in the 1979 Alberta general election. He would win the highest popular vote of his political career, but fell short of the percentage of vote he won in 1979.

Famous quotes containing the words political and/or career:

I have no purpose to introduce political and social equality between the white and black races. There is a physical difference between the two, which, in my judgement, will probably for ever forbid their living together upon the footing of perfect equality; and inasmuch as it becomes a necessity that there must be a difference, I ... am in favour of the race to which I belong having the superior position.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

Each of the professions means a prejudice. The necessity for a career forces every one to take sides. We live in the age of the overworked, and the under-educated; the age in which people are so industrious that they become absolutely stupid.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)
