"The number of people without enough food to eat on a regular basis remains stubbornly high, at over 800 million, and is not falling significantly. Over 60% of the world's undernourished people live in Asia, and a quarter in Africa. The proportion of people who are hungry, however, is greater in Africa (33%) than Asia (16%). Mario Puzo (b. 1920)

To give money to a sufferer is only a come-off. It is only a postponement of the real payment, a bribe paid for silence, a credit system in which a paper promise to pay answers for the time instead of liquidation. We owe to man higher succors than food and fire. We owe to man.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
    U.S. Constitution, Second Amendment.
