Fog Nozzle - History

History

  • To simplify the complex calculations of manually adjustable nozzles, Clyde McMillan the founder of Task Force Tips on a napkin invented the automatic nozzle on May 10, 1968.
  • Interestingly, although the NFPA had, in 1964, ordered NFPA 1964 that all automatic nozzles must maintain flow rates within fifteen GPM of their nominal value (most commonly 100 PSI), many firefighters mistakenly continue to use stream shape instead of the recoil felt during operation to judge fog nozzles' flow rate.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

... the history of the race, from infancy through its stages of barbarism, heathenism, civilization, and Christianity, is a process of suffering, as the lower principles of humanity are gradually subjected to the higher.
    Catherine E. Beecher (1800–1878)

Literary works cannot be taken over like factories, or literary forms of expression like industrial methods. Realist writing, of which history offers many widely varying examples, is likewise conditioned by the question of how, when and for what class it is made use of.
    Bertolt Brecht (1898–1956)

The true theater of history is therefore the temperate zone.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)
