Florida State Road 729

Known to residents of Pahokee, Florida, as State Market Road, State Road 729 is a 1.5-mile-long north–south road bypassing the city on the southeastern shore of Lake Okeechobee. As motorists driving northbound on US 98/441/SR 15 veer to the west onto East Seventh Street and north onto Lake Avenue to go into downtown Pahokee, SR 729 continues alongside Florida East Coast Railroad tracks to the northeast and north, to reconnect with US 98/441/SR 15, which continues along the shore of Lake Okeechobee as Everglades Street. A major truck route that was originally signed State Road 15A, SR 729 is entirely within the city limits of Pahokee.

Famous quotes containing the words florida, state and/or road:

    In Florida consider the flamingo,
Its color passion but its neck a question.
    Robert Penn Warren (1905–1989)

Only by the supernatural is a man strong; nothing is so weak as an egotist. Nothing is mightier than we, when we are vehicles of a truth before which the state and the individual are alike ephemeral.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

In the fevered state of our country, no good can ever result from any attempt to set one of these fiery zealots to rights, either in fact or principle. They are determined as to the facts they will believe, and the opinions on which they will act. Get by them, therefore, as you would by an angry bull; it is not for a man of sense to dispute the road with such an animal.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
