As of 4 October 2010, Sharp Airlines has been operating services between Essendon, Flinders Island and Launceston. Using 18 seat Metroliners, they fly between Essendon Airport and Flinders Island Airport 3 return flights a week (60 minutes) and Launceston Airport and Flinders Island Airport at least daily (30 minutes)
A ferry service is operated to the island by Southern Shipping Co from Bridport, Tasmania and also from Port Welshpool, Victoria.
