Fish Town

Fishtown is the capital city of River Gee County, Liberia.

River Gee County is one of the five Southeastern counties. As of the 2008 national census, the population stood at 3,328. It was created by the act of legislation in 2000. Its citizens are Grebo. In 1933, during the administration of president Edwin J. Barclay, the interior was graphed and founded the provinces, bringing about Eastern Province, Central province and Western province. Before, today River Gee and today Grand Gedeh were separate districts, while River Gee came out of Webbo District that was administered by Maryland County and Grand Gedeh came out of Tchien District administered by Sinoe County and the both districts made up the Eastern Province, which in 1964 became Grand Gedeh.

Famous quotes containing the words fish and/or town:

Come, thou shalt go home, and we’ll have flesh for holidays, fish for fasting-days, and moreo’er puddings and flap-jacks, and thou shalt be welcome.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

A township where one primitive forest waves above while another primitive forest rots below,—such a town is fitted to raise not only corn and potatoes, but poets and philosophers for the coming ages. In such a soil grew Homer and Confucius and the rest, and out of such a wilderness comes the Reformer eating locusts and wild honey.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
