Group Activities
Being in a fire tribe is much like being in a circus family. The most common thing people do is practice together. It takes a lot of time to learn difficult moves, and a lot more time to learn how to work them into a routine with other people involved.
Practicing partner moves is also a good reason to get involved with a fire troupe. Once a level of trust has been built between two or more people, they can practice intricate choreographies, often with the fire coming very close to another person. Some of the most common partner props are poi, contact/single staff, hoop, and fans.

Famous quotes containing the words group and/or activities:
“There is nothing in the world that I loathe more than group activity, that communal bath where the hairy and slippery mix in a multiplication of mediocrity.”
—Vladimir Nabokov (18991977)
“No culture on earth outside of mid-century suburban America has ever deployed one woman per child without simultaneously assigning her such major productive activities as weaving, farming, gathering, temple maintenance, and tent-building. The reason is that full-time, one-on-one child-raising is not good for women or children.”
—Barbara Ehrenreich (b. 1941)
