Fiona Apple - Personal Life

Personal Life

Public speculation about Apple having an eating disorder arose in 1997 with the The New Yorker writing that she "looked like an underfed Calvin Klein model".

In the mid-1990s, she dated magician David Blaine, and was romantically linked to director Paul Thomas Anderson, who directed several music videos for her second album.

She dated writer and actor Jonathan Ames from 2007 until they parted ways at the end of 2010.

In a June 2012 interview, it was revealed that Apple had briefly married a French photographer several years ago, "for complicated reasons."

Apple appeared on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast in July 2012, where she discussed “the changes in her life and career over the past 15-plus years, the highs and lows and everything else.”

On September 19, 2012 Apple was arrested at an internal border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas for possession after authorities claimed they found hashish on her tour bus. Authorities detained Apple at the Hudspeth County Jail.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

We should stop looking to law to provide the final answer.... Law cannot save us from ourselves.... We have to go out and try to accomplish our goals and resolve disagreements by doing what we think is right. That energy and resourcefulness, not millions of legal cubicles, is what was great about America. Let judgment and personal conviction be important again.
Philip K. Howard, U.S. lawyer. The Death of Common Sense: How Law Is Suffocating America, pp. 186-87, Random House (1994)

There is a place where we are always alone with our own mortality, where we must simply have something greater than ourselves to hold onto—God or history or politics or literature or a belief in the healing power of love, or even righteous anger.... A reason to believe, a way to take the world by the throat and insist that there is more to this life than we have ever imagined.
    Dorothy Allison (b. 1949)
