User Private Group
Some systems diverge from the traditional POSIX-model of users and groups, by creating a new group – a "user private group" – for each user. The "user private group" scheme can be preferred for a variety of reasons including using a umask of 002 and not having every "user" able to write to newly created files. In this case however, no other users must be added to the "user private group" or they will have write-permission on all files.

Famous quotes containing the words user, private and/or group:
“A worker may be the hammers master, but the hammer still prevails. A tool knows exactly how it is meant to be handled, while the user of the tool can only have an approximate idea.”
—Milan Kundera (b. 1929)
“The faceless head lay still. I could not run
Or walk, but stood. Alone in the public clearing
This private thing was owned by all the town,
Though never claimed by us within my hearing.”
—Allen Tate (18991979)
“Laughing at someone else is an excellent way of learning how to laugh at oneself; and questioning what seem to be the absurd beliefs of another group is a good way of recognizing the potential absurdity of many of ones own cherished beliefs.”
—Gore Vidal (b. 1925)
