File Manager (Windows)

File Manager (Windows)

File Manager is a file manager program bundled with releases of Microsoft Windows between 1990 and 1999. It was a single-instance graphical interface, replacing the command-line interface of MS-DOS, to manage files (copy, move, open, delete, search, etc.). No program closely similar to File Manager was included in Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 and later versions; instead the more general Windows Explorer was introduced, with file management via a 2-pane view different from File Manager's, and a single-pane view obtained by clicking a "My Computer" icon.

Famous quotes containing the words file and/or manager:

Probably nothing in the experience of the rank and file of workers causes more bitterness and envy than the realization which comes sooner or later to many of them that they are “stuck” and can go no further.
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)

Nothing could his enemies do but it rebounded to his infinite advantage,—that is, to the advantage of his cause.... No theatrical manager could have arranged things so wisely to give effect to his behavior and words. And who, think you, was the manager? Who placed the slave-woman and her child, whom he stooped to kiss for a symbol, between his prison and the gallows?
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
