Ferdi Taygan is born in Massachusetts to a Turkish father and a mother of Belarus descent. His father, Beyazıt, immigrated to the USA to study civil engineering. He majored in finances.
Taygan married Kay Conaway of Birmingham, Alabama in 1983. They have two daughters: Nuray Taygan, born November 18, 1984 and Shenal Taygan, born August 6, 1988.
