Origin of Name

The district is named after its headquarters, Faridabad city. The city is named after its founder, Shaikh Farid, the treasurer of Jahangir.When Sheik Farid came here,he decided to raise a town here.Soon a town was raised which was named after him.On Talab Road near Gopi Colony (Old Faridabad),his beautiful tomb or `maqbara' can still be seen.
