Family Rosary Crusade

Family Rosary Crusade is a worldwide campaign that eventually became a Roman Catholic movement founded by Reverend Father Patrick Peyton, CSC. The endeavor came to be as a personal mission to undertake the promotion of the praying of the family Rosary by families as a means to bind families together. The inspiration to start a campaign came from Father Peyton's patron, the Blessed Virgin Mary whom he credits as the one who interceded before God and her son Jesus Christ his miraculous recovery from tuberculosis in 1941.

The campaign's basic objective is to promote the praying of the Rosary by families, viewed and seen by Father Peyton as the most efficacious form of meditation, in the process, learn and imitate the life and passion of Jesus Christ. Father Peyton rationalizes that together as a family, in unison praying the Rosary, the family is united before Christ and drawn closer to God.

Famous quotes containing the words family, rosary and/or crusade:

Having a thirteen-year-old in the family is like having a general-admission ticket to the movies, radio and TV. You get to understand that the glittering new arts of our civilization are directed to the teen-agers, and by their suffrage they stand or fall.
    Max Lerner (b. 1902)

Dust rises from the main road and old Délira is stooping in front of her hut. She doesn’t look up, she softly shakes her head, her headkerchief all askew, letting out a strand of grey hair powdered, it appears, with the same dust pouring through her fingers like a rosary of misery. She repeats, “we will all die”, and she calls on the good Lord.
    Jacques Roumain (1907–1945)

The crusade against Communism was even more imaginary than the spectre of Communism.
