Constituency Boundaries and Council Area
The constituency was created at the same time as the Scottish Parliament, in 1999, with the name and boundaries of an existing Westminster constituency. In 2005, however, Scottish Westminster (House of Commons) constituencies were mostly replaced with new constituencies.
From the Scottish Parliament election, 2011, the newly reshaped Falkirk East will be formed from the following electoral wards:
- In full; Bo'ness and Blackness, Grangemouth, Lower Braes, Upper Braes
- In part; Carse, Kinnaird and Tryst, Falkirk South

Famous quotes containing the words constituency, boundaries, council and/or area:
“But also the constituency determines the vote of the representative. He is not only representative, but participant. Like can only be known by like. The reason why he knows about them is, that he is of them; he has just come out of nature, or from being a part of the thing.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“We love to overlook the boundaries which we do not wish to pass.”
—Samuel Johnson (17091784)
“There by some wrinkled stones round a leafless tree
With beards askew, their eyes dull and wild
Twelve ragged men, the council of charity
Wandering the face of the earth a fatherless child....”
—Allen Tate (18991979)
“Whether we regard the Womens Liberation movement as a serious threat, a passing convulsion, or a fashionable idiocy, it is a movement that mounts an attack on practically everything that women value today and introduces the language and sentiments of political confrontation into the area of personal relationships.”
—Arianna Stassinopoulos (b. 1950)
