Famous quotes containing the words face, recognition, grand and/or challenge:

The law is a sort of hocus-pocus science, that smiles in yer face while it picks yer pocket: and the glorious uncertainty of it is of more use to the professors than the justice of it.
    Charles Macklin (1690–1797)

No democracy can long survive which does not accept as fundamental to its very existence the recognition of the rights of minorities.
    Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882–1945)

One would like to be grand and heroic, if one could; but if not, why try at all? One wants to be very something, very great, very heroic; or if not that, then at least very stylish and very fashionable. It is this everlasting mediocrity that bores me.
    Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811–1896)

If the technology cannot shoulder the entire burden of strategic change, it nevertheless can set into motion a series of dynamics that present an important challenge to imperative control and the industrial division of labor. The more blurred the distinction between what workers know and what managers know, the more fragile and pointless any traditional relationships of domination and subordination between them will become.
    Shoshana Zuboff (b. 1951)
