Size and Relation To Other Areas

According to the USFS, "Most Experimental Forests are large enough to contain significant stream systems and several dozen contain experimental watershed study sites with multiple paired basins." Individual experimental forests range from 0.47 to 225 km2 (120 to 56,000 acres) in area. Experimental forests are distinguished from research natural areas and intensive monitoring sites.

Famous quotes containing the words size, relation and/or areas:

Eat your meals according to the size of your bowl.
    Chinese proverb.

You know there are no secrets in America. It’s quite different in England, where people think of a secret as a shared relation between two people.
    —W.H. (Wystan Hugh)

If a walker is indeed an individualist there is nowhere he can’t go at dawn and not many places he can’t go at noon. But just as it demeans life to live alongside a great river you can no longer swim in or drink from, to be crowded into safer areas and hours takes much of the gloss off walking—one sport you shouldn’t have to reserve a time and a court for.
    Edward Hoagland (b. 1932)
