"Everyday Is a Winding Road" (a misspelling of "Every Day is a Winding Road") is the second single from American rock star Sheryl Crow's 1996 self-titled album. The song met well with radio and peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Neil Finn, lead singer of Crowded House, provides backing vocals. It also peaked at #12 on the UK Singles Chart. Paul Hester, another member of the band, was the inspiration for the song. This song is accompanied with a music video, directed by Peggy Sirota, filmed in sepia tone in New York City which features a toy airplane flying from person to person throughout the city. It also garnered a nomination for Record of the Year at the 1998 Grammy Awards but lost to "Sunny Came Home" by Shawn Colvin.
The song was covered by Prince on his 1999 album, Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic. The song was used in several 2006 and 2007 Subaru commercials and in the films Erin Brockovich and Phenomenon.

Famous quotes containing the words everyday, winding and/or road:
“...deep down, deeper than everyday gets me, I am still one of them and will be till I die. In my heart and soul I belong to the lot and the red wagons and the Big Top.”
—Josephine Demott Robinson (18651948)
“The Indian remarked as before, Must have hard wood to cook moose-meat, as if that were a maxim, and proceeded to get it. My companion cooked some in California fashion, winding a long string of the meat round a stick and slowly turning it in his hand before the fire. It was very good. But the Indian, not approving of the mode, or because he was not allowed to cook it his own way, would not taste it.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“How the cold creeps as the fire dies at length
How drifts are piled,
Dooryard and road ungraded,
Till even the comforting barn grows far away,
And my heart owns a doubt
Whether tis in us to arise with day
And save ourselves unaided.”
—Robert Frost (18741963)
