History and Legal Status

EUCLID’s origins seem to be linked to the vision of Central African Republic Prime Minister Faustin-Archange Touadera, when he was the rector of the University of Bangui, to create an international extension for the university. The programs developed by the Euclid Consortium (‘Pôle d’Extension Universitaire Euclide’), of which the University of Bangui was a member, led to the establishment of EUCLID as an autonomous institution in 2008.

In January 2008, Syed Zahid Ali, the senior official of IOSD, the administrative organization for the Euclid Consortium, presented to various governments a new legal framework called EUCLID Phase 2. Several governments interested in using the Euclid programs to train their own staff approved the statutes of the new international university in 2008 and 2009.

Famous quotes containing the words history, legal and/or status:

Let us not underrate the value of a fact; it will one day flower in a truth. It is astonishing how few facts of importance are added in a century to the natural history of any animal. The natural history of man himself is still being gradually written.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The disfranchisement of a single legal elector by fraud or intimidation is a crime too grave to be regarded lightly.
    Benjamin Harrison (1833–1901)

A genuine Left doesn’t consider anyone’s suffering irrelevant or titillating; nor does it function as a microcosm of capitalist economy, with men competing for power and status at the top, and women doing all the work at the bottom.... Goodbye to all that.
    Robin Morgan (b. 1941)
