Ernie Fosselius - Other Works

Other Works

Fosselius has continued to whittle mechanically animated carved caricatures and automata which he displays in traveling galleries called the "Marvelous Mechalodeon" and the "Crankabout Mechanical Theater", an entirely human powered exhibit. Fosselius created a special multiple caricature puppet of the band "The Heavenly States" which stood in for the group in their 2005 music video for the song "Car Wash." Some photographs of these devices are in this flickr album.

Fosselius is a satirical puppeteer ("Puppephobia!") who carves his own caricature puppets and performs on the street and at adult "puppet slam" venues. After all his work in television and film he now prefers this more direct form of self-expression, which he calls "Live, 3-D, Animation".

Fosselius is a celebrated artist and performer and has self-published two of his books: "Ernie Goes To Playland", an illustrated story of his childhood terror of amusement parks, and "Grandpa Floyd's Workshop", a revival of his collected 1970's syndicated cartoon strips. More "graphic novels" are on the way.

Famous quotes containing the word works:

The noble simplicity in the works of nature only too often originates in the noble shortsightedness of him who observes it.
    —G.C. (Georg Christoph)

We thus worked our way up this river, gradually adjusting our thoughts to novelties, beholding from its placid bosom a new nature and new works of men, and, as it were with increasing confidence, finding nature still habitable, genial, and propitious to us; not following any beaten path, but the windings of the river, as ever the nearest way for us. Fortunately, we had no business in this country.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
