Ernest Angley - Personal Life

Personal Life

Angley is a native of Gaston County, North Carolina; he was raised a Baptist, and at the age of 18 he said he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior . In the early 1950s, traveling with their tent and camper, he and his wife arrived in northeast Ohio as a traveling "salvation and healing" Pentecostal evangelist; the locals embraced them, and he has lived in the Akron area ever since. He continues to live in the same small house that he shared with his wife Esther before her death in December 1970.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

In the weakness of one kind of authority, and in the fluctuation of all, the officers of an army will remain for some time mutinous and full of faction, until some popular general, who understands the art of conciliating the soldiery, and who possesses the true spirit of command, shall draw the eyes of all men upon himself. Armies will obey him on his personal account. There is no other way of securing military obedience in this state of things.
    Edmund Burke (1729–1797)

Why should not our whole life and its scenery be actually thus fair and distinct? All our lives want a suitable background. They should at least, like the life of the anchorite, be as impressive to behold as objects in a desert, a broken shaft or crumbling mound against a limitless horizon.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
