Oil Shale
Ten known oil shale deposits in Morocco account more than 53.381 billion barrels (8.4869×109 m3) of shale oil. Although Moroccan oil shale is studied since 1930s, and there have been several pilot facilities for shale oil production, there is no commercial shale oil production yet. The most important deposits are Timahdit (Middle Atlas Mountains) and Tarfaya (south-westernmost part of Morocco).
