Testing
As more research is conducted to improve testing methodologies for endothelial dysfunction, however, several non-invasive tests have been created by various medical-research companies.
However, there is a serious flaw in measurements of endothelial function which involve the percentage change in diameter as the selected statistic. There is a negative correlation between percent flow mediated dilation and baseline artery size, but this has only recently been recognised as a fundamental scaling problem, showing that peak diameter does not change as a constant proportion of baseline diameter. This dependence of percent FMD on baseline diameter can lead to biased estimates of endothelial function. For reseaerch on flow-medaited dilation an ANCOVA approach to adjusting FMD for variation in baseline diameter is more appropriate.

Famous quotes containing the word testing:
“Is this testing whether Im a replicant or a lesbian, Mr. Deckard?”
—David Webb Peoples, U.S. screenwriter, and Ridley Scott. Rachel, Blade Runner, being tested to determine if she is human or machine (1982)
“Traditional scientific method has always been at the very best 20-20 hindsight. Its good for seeing where youve been. Its good for testing the truth of what you think you know, but it cant tell you where you ought to go.”
—Robert M. Pirsig (b. 1928)
“Bourbons the only drink. You can take all that champagne stuff and pour it down the English Channel. Well, why wait 80 years before you can drink the stuff? Great vineyards, huge barrels aging forever, poor little old monks running around testing it, just so some woman in Tulsa, Oklahoma can say it tickles her nose.”
—John Michael Hayes (b.1919)
