Emona
Emona or Aemona (short for Colonia Iulia Aemona) was a Roman castrum in the Ljubljana Basin, on the banks of the Ljubljanica. It was part of the Roman province of Italy, as its easternmost city, although it was formerly assumed it was part of the Pannonia or Illyricum. Other ancient Roman towns that existed in what is now Slovenia include Nauportus (now Vrhnika), Celeia (now Celje) and Poetovio (now Ptuj).
