Early Life
Hobeika was born in Kleiat, Lebanon to a Maronite family on 22 September 1956. According to The Guardian, he was deeply influenced by the massacre of much of his family and of his fiancée by Palestinian militiamen at the Damour massacre of 1976. After dropping out of school at the age of 14, he joined the Banco do Brasil, working as an office boy. At that time he was already involved with the Phalanges movement.
