Behavior

Powerful constrictors, Eastern Fox Snakes will consume a variety of small mammals and birds. It has been hypothesized that they will also consume amphibians, but this has not been well documented. Eastern Fox Snakes will occasionally wiggle their tails, rustling leaves, to ward off potential predators. This is a form of mimicry. The sound resembles that of a rattlesnake. When threatened, they may also coil, and if continued to feel threatened, strike.

Famous quotes containing the word behavior:

A method of child-rearing is not—or should not be—a whim, a fashion or a shibboleth. It should derive from an understanding of the developing child, of his physical and mental equipment at any given stage, and, therefore, his readiness at any given stage to adapt, to learn, to regulate his behavior according to parental expectations.
    Selma H. Fraiberg (20th century)

Children can’t make their own rules and no child is happy without them. The great need of the young is for authority that protects them against the consequences of their own primitive passions and their lack of experience, that provides with guides for everyday behavior and that builds some solid ground they can stand on for the future.
    Leontine Young (20th century)

As long as male behavior is taken to be the norm, there can be no serious questioning of male traits and behavior. A norm is by definition a standard for judging; it is not itself subject to judgment.
Myriam Miedzian, U.S. author. Boys Will Be Boys, ch. 1 (1991)
