El Camino Youth Symphony
The El Camino Youth Symphony (ECYS) is a youth orchestra located in Palo Alto, California.
Founded in 1963, the El Camino Youth Symphony educates and trains more than 450 K-12 students from over 100 schools from San Francisco to Santa Cruz. The Symphony Orchestra is the top-level ensemble, and it is composed of talented musicians ranging from middle to high-schoolers from throughout the Bay Area. The orchestra studies under the baton of Dr. Camilla Kolchinsky, a conductor and master teacher who challenges the musicians to reach a high level of achievement. Other staff include Debra Gardner, clarinetist, who serves as wind coach for all of ECYS and assistant conductor, and Cathy Spieth, the executive director for ECYS.
The Symphony Orchestra performs to capacity crowds (2000+) at Flint Center in Cupertino, CA, and the California Theatre in San Jose, CA.

Famous quotes containing the words camino, youth and/or symphony:
“Oh, Jacques, were used to each other, were a pair of captive hawks caught in the same cage, and so weve grown used to each other. Thats what passes for love at this dim, shadowy end of the Camino Real.”
—Tennessee Williams (19141983)
“He that hath a beard is more than a youth, and he that hath no beard is less than a man; and he that is more than a youth is not for me, and he that is less than a man, I am not for him.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“The truth is, as every one knows, that the great artists of the world are never Puritans, and seldom even ordinarily respectable. No virtuous manthat is, virtuous in the Y.M.C.A. sensehas ever painted a picture worth looking at, or written a symphony worth hearing, or a book worth reading, and it is highly improbable that the thing has ever been done by a virtuous woman.”
—H.L. (Henry Lewis)
