  • Well before his death, the Southern Pacific Railroad named a station in California, along its now-abandoned Colusa Branch, Ordbend as recognition of the nearby Ord Ranch, owned in the 1850s by Ord and two of his brothers.
  • The former Fort Ord in Monterey County, California, was named for him.
  • Ord, Nebraska, was named in his honor while he was serving as commander of the Department of the Platte.
  • Peaks named Mount Ord in Brewster County, Texas and Apache County, Arizona are named for him.
