Other Educational Institutions
There exist numerous public music schools (primary and secondary) and also public special education schools (or classes within regular schools).
There exist over thirty scientific institutes, the largest one being the Institute "Ruđer Bošković" in Zagreb that excels in physics. Among the other institutes there are for example the Energy Institute "Hrvoje Požar" in Zagreb, the Civil Engineering Institute of Croatia, Cultural and Scientific Center "Milutin Milanković" etc.
The Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb is a learned society promoting language, culture, and science from its first conception in 1866. (The juxtaposition of the words typically seen in English as "Arts and Sciences" is deliberate.)

Famous quotes containing the words educational and/or institutions:
“If an educational act is to be efficacious, it will be only that one which tends to help toward the complete unfolding of life. To be thus helpful it is necessary rigorously to avoid the arrest of spontaneous movements and the imposition of arbitrary tasks.”
—Maria Montessori (18701952)
“Have we no culture, no refinement, but skill only to live coarsely and serve the Devil?to acquire a little worldly wealth, or fame, or liberty, and make a false show with it, as if we were all husk and shell, with no tender and living kernel to us? Shall our institutions be like those chestnut burs which contain abortive nuts, perfect only to prick the fingers?”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
