Edgewater Railway Station - History

History

The station was built over the period 1990-1992 for the original opening of the Joondalup Line.

The car park has been upgraded to increase parking capacity at the station. This included more Pay 'n' Display bays, more free parking bays, and a new drop-off area. Some other parts of the car park have been redesigned to create a smoother flowing car park.

In June 2011, the station was upgraded to include a lift (previously only a ramp existed) and a larger undercover area.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

No matter how vital experience might be while you lived it, no sooner was it ended and dead than it became as lifeless as the piles of dry dust in a school history book.
    Ellen Glasgow (1874–1945)

We have need of history in its entirety, not to fall back into it, but to see if we can escape from it.
    José Ortega Y Gasset (1883–1955)

The thing that struck me forcefully was the feeling of great age about the place. Standing on that old parade ground, which is now a cricket field, I could feel the dead generations crowding me. Here was the oldest settlement of freedmen in the Western world, no doubt. Men who had thrown off the bands of slavery by their own courage and ingenuity. The courage and daring of the Maroons strike like a purple beam across the history of Jamaica.
    Zora Neale Hurston (1891–1960)
