EAS Pollux

The Omega class destroyer E.A.S. Pollux was an Earth Alliance starship in the Babylon 5 science fiction universe. She was named after Pollux from Greek mythology, who was a son of Leda and the Swan - who was the God Jupiter in disguise.

In the latter half of 2261, President Morgan Clark began ordering his forces to attack civilian targets in order to force the surrender of those who opposed him. He may have also done this to provoke rebel leaders into attacking him. Two large commercial liners that held a combined total of 10,000 refugees were intercepted by the Pollux at a jump gate. The two ships tried to identify themselves as commercial liners, but the Pollux came out of the jump gate firing, and quickly destroyed the two refugee ships. Over 10,000 innocent people died in the attack.

A transport in the area managed to make a video record of this, which was smuggled out of the area. It made its way to Babylon 5. Both Commander Susan Ivanova and Captain John Sheridan were furious upon seeing the video. Sheridan then decided to take the war to Earth, liberating the colonies on the way, with the first major engagement of the campaign taking place at Proxima 3.

EAS Pollux was lost in the ensuing battle when a White Star, damaged by Pollux's forward batteries, tumbled out of control and collided head-on with the Pollux, destroying both ships.
