Partnership Initiatives
Instead of new agreements between governments, the Earth Summit was organized mostly around almost 300 "partnership initiatives" known as Type II, as opposed to Type I Parnerships which are the more classic outcome of international treaties. These were to be the key means to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. These are kept in a database of Partnerships for Sustainable Development.

Famous quotes containing the words partnership and/or initiatives:
“Nevertheless, no school can work well for children if parents and teachers do not act in partnership on behalf of the childrens best interests. Parents have every right to understand what is happening to their children at school, and teachers have the responsibility to share that information without prejudicial judgment.... Such communication, which can only be in a childs interest, is not possible without mutual trust between parent and teacher.”
—Dorothy H. Cohen (20th century)
“It is well known, that the best productions of the best human intellects, are generally regarded by those intellects as mere immature freshman exercises, wholly worthless in themselves, except as initiatives for entering the great University of God after death.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
