E. E. C. Thuraisingham - Death

Death

Dato Sir Clough Thuraisingham died in the early hours of the morning of 30 March 1979. Among the many mourners attending the funeral was Tun Hussein Onn, the son of his dear friend Dato Sir Onn bin Jaafar. Tun Hussein Onn was Prime Minister of Malaysia in 1979 - one could say a befitting and poetic end to an important and utopian era in Malaysian politics.

Famous quotes containing the word death:

    People named John and Mary never divorce. For better or for worse, in madness and in saneness, they seem bound together for eternity by their rudimentary nomenclature. They may loathe and despise one another, quarrel, weep, and commit mayhem, but they are not free to divorce. Tom, Dick, and Harry can go to Reno on a whim, but nothing short of death can separate John and Mary.
    John Cheever (1912–1982)

    How I envy you death;
    what could death bring,
    more black, more set with sparks
    to slay, to affright,
    than the memory of those first violets.
    Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)

    Life folded Death; Death trellised Life; the grim god wived with youthful Life, and begat him curly-headed glories.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)
