The E2 European long distance path or E2 path is a 4,850 kilometres (3,010 mi) series of long-distance footpaths that is intended to run from Galway in Ireland to France's Mediterranean coast, via Northern Ireland, Scotland, England, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France. It is one of the network of European long-distance paths.
The paths are aimed at walkers; alternative routes exist in some parts for horse riders and cyclists.

Famous quotes containing the words european, long, distance and/or path:
“England is nothing but the last ward of the European madhouse, and quite possibly it will prove to be the ward for particularly violent cases.”
—Leon Trotsky (18791940)
“So long as you write what you wish to write, that is all that matters; and whether it matters for ages or only for hours, nobody can say. But to sacrifice a hair of the head of your vision, a shade of its colour, in deference to some Headmaster with a silver pot in his hand or to some professor with a measuring-rod up his sleeve, is the most abject treachery, and the sacrifice or wealth and chastity, which used to be said to be the greatest of human disasters, a mere flea-bite in comparison.”
—Virginia Woolf (18821941)
“The rage for road building is beneficent for America, where vast distance is so main a consideration in our domestic politics and trade, inasmuch as the great political promise of the invention is to hold the Union staunch, whose days already seem numbered by the mere inconvenience of transporting representatives, judges and officers across such tedious distances of land and water.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Old and fat, I waddle, gasping, up the beckoning path of lust.”
—Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
