Duke Red

Duke Red is a fictional character created by Osamu Tezuka. His first appearance was in Metropolis, and quickly became one of Osamu Tezuka's most notable villains. While several of Tezuka's characters would reappear in different roles throughout his works, Duke Red was almost always portrayed as a ruthless, albeit sympathetic, villain mostly in the role of Rock Makube's father, although in Undersea Super Train, Doctor Narzonkopf, plays Rocks father. Usually in positions of power and wealth, his actions spoke volumes in any role Tezuka placed him in.

Famous quotes containing the words duke and/or red:

For the man who should loose me is dead,
Fighting with the Duke in Flanders,
In a pattern called a war.
    Christ! What are patterns for?
    Amy Lowell (1874–1925)

It was almost two years ago, while awaiting the imminent birth of my second child, that I decided to start working part-time. This would have been unthinkable to me when I was younger. At twenty-five I should have worn a big red A on my chest; it would have stood for ambition, an ambition so brazen and burning that it would have reduced Hester Prynne’s transgression to pale pink.
