The Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery

The DCMS, for most of the timeline of the Battletech universe, is usual slightly less technologically advanced in comparison to the other Successor states. This is due to the constant distance and fear of outside influences, thus causing the combine to be viewed as a very tempting target...a problem which was made evident during the Fourth Succession War.

This change was brought about by secret negotiations with Comstar for release of the Rasalhague district in return for the exchange of several regiments worth of Star League-era mechs. This allowed the DCMS to supplement its meager mech forces already in existence and create entire mech regiments from scratch.

Famous quotes containing the words combine, mustered and/or soldiery:

Italians, and perhaps Frenchmen, consider first whether they like or want to do a thing and then whether, on the whole, it will do them any harm. Englishmen, and perhaps Germans, consider first whether they ought to like a thing and often never reach the questions whether they do like it and whether it will hurt. There is much to be said for both systems, but I suppose it is best to combine them as far as possible.
    Samuel Butler (1835–1902)

We had an inspection today of the brigade. The Twenty-third was pronounced the crack regiment in appearance, ... [but] I could see only six to ten in a company of the old men. They all smiled as I rode by. But as I passed away I couldn’t help dropping a few natural tears. I felt as I did when I saw them mustered in at Camp Chase.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

The inhabitants of Canada appeared to be suffering between two fires,—the soldiery and the priesthood.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
