Downtown Sacramento - Pedestrian Malls

Pedestrian Malls

K Street between 13th Street and Westfield Downtown Plaza was closed to all automobile traffic between 1969 and November 12, 2011. In November, 2012, the K Street Mall was rebranded "The Kay", and now functions as a shopping area.

Two half-block long pedestrian malls still exist in downtown on 11th Street between J-K Alley and The Kay, and from The Kay to K-L Alley.

Famous quotes containing the words pedestrian and/or malls:

However global I strove to become in my thinking over the past twenty years, my sons kept me rooted to an utterly pedestrian view, intimately involved with the most inspiring and fractious passages in human development. However unconsciously by now, motherhood informs every thought I have, influencing everything I do. More than any other part of my life, being a mother taught me what it means to be human.
    Mary Kay Blakely (20th century)

The figured wheel rolls through shopping malls and prisons,
Over farms, small and immense, and the rotten little downtowns.
    Robert Pinsky (b. 1940)
