Dimona Radar Facility

The Dimona Radar Facility is a facility near Dimona, Israel consisting of two 400 meter (1,300 feet) tall radar towers, designed to track ballistic missiles through space and provide ground-based missiles with the targeting data needed to intercept them. Using AN/TPY-2 X-band radar, it can detect missiles up to 1,500 miles / 2,400 kilometers away. The towers will are owned and operated by the US military, and provide only second hand intelligence to Israel.

The towers of the facility, which are situated at 30°58′07″N 35°05′50″E / 30.9685905°N 35.097121°E / 30.9685905; 35.097121 (Dimona Radar Tower) and at 30°58′32″N 35°05′55″E / 30.9756831°N 35.0986823°E / 30.9756831; 35.0986823 (Dimona Radar Tower), are the tallest towers in Israel, and the tallest used for radar in the world.
