The Present
The band never officially disbanded. However, due to health issues neither Dave Curtis nor Gary Bromley were able to devote the time needed to the band and this led to a "slow dissolve." For a time the band continued with bass player Scott Rodger who performed recorded with the band on "Out of The Trees" and subsequent touring but the spark seemed to be diminishing. The final step to dissolution occurred when Richard Thomas became a touring drummer for The Jesus and Mary Chain. 4AD manager Ivo Watts-Russell said that he "expected these most individual of individuals to work together again at some point", but this never happened.
Richard Thomas has also worked with Butterfly Child, Moose, Cocteau Twins, The Wolfgang Press, and April March; Gary Bromley is currently performing in a band called "The Children"; Dave Curtis spent some time collaborating with the Wolfgang Press, This Mortal Coil and Tranquil Trucking Company.

Famous quotes containing the words the present and/or present:
“The Pastthe dark unfathomd retrospect!
The teeming gulfthe sleepers and the shadows!
The past! the infinite greatness of the past!
For what is the present after all but a growth out of the past?”
—Walt Whitman (18191892)
“There are no such oysters, terrapin, or canvas-back ducks as there were in those days; the race is extinct. It is strange how things degenerate.... I passed, the other day, the deserted house of Mrs. Gerry, which I used to think so lordly. It stands alone now amid the surrounding sky-scrapers, and reminds me of Don Quixote going out to fight the windmills. It should always remain to mark the difference between the past and the present.”
—M. E. W. Sherwood (18261903)
“If, at any time, it comes into my head, that a present is due from me to somebody, I am puzzled what to give, until the opportunity is gone.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“We should be careful never to imagine, that the wedding-day is the burial of love, but that in reality love then begins its best life; and if we set out upon that principle, and are mindful to keep it up, and give due attention and aid to the progress of love thus brought into the well ordered well sheltered garden, we may enjoy I believe as much happiness as is consistent with the imperfection of our present state of being.”
—James Boswell (17401795)
