Companies
The DHX name derives from the combination of Decode and Halifax from the 2006 merger between Decode Entertainment and Halifax Film Company. Studio B Productions was acquired by DHX Media in December 2007. In March 2008 DHX Media acquired Bulldog Interactive Fitness. As of September 8, 2010 all related subsidiaries were rebranded under the label DHX Media.
On August 20, 2012, DHX Media announced its intention to acquire fellow Canadian entertainment company Cookie Jar Group for $111 million. The combined company will have a library of over 8,000 episode (three quarters of which being from Cookie Jar), making it the world's largest independent owner of children's programming. With its acquisition, DHX plans to expand its pushes into delivering content through new media, such as streaming services like Netflix. DHX Media closed its acquisition of the Cookie Jar Group on October 22, 2012.
