The recording debuted atop the Billboard Tropical Albums chart on the week of November 27, 1999, and remained at number one for five consecutive months. Desde un Principio: From the Beginning peaked at number 151 on the Billboard 200 chart and became the best-selling album of 2000 for the Top Latin Albums and Tropical Albums charts. It was then certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
