Marching Band
The "Spirit of the Bucks" Marching Band is currently under the direction of Jean Auguste- Director of Bands, and his assistant Lauren Williams- Assistant Director of Bands. The Marching Bucks band has received an overall Superior rating (the best overall rating) from the Florida Bandmasters Association for Marching Perfomance Assessments during the 2008-2009, 2009-2010, and 2011-2012 school years. The band has performed at numerous events including the annual Florida Classic Battle of the Bands. The band has an extensive and rich history in Corps Style marching, having won dozens of awards at various state marching events since the bands inception. Most recently the band took on new tradition under Mr. Jean Auguste's tutelage. The 2003-2004 school year was Mr. Jean Auguste's first year as head band director. Under his tenure the band has switched to a traditional "high-step" style of marching. The switch in style has increased band membership and allowed the student population at DBHS to become more involved with the band as the band has the vicissitude to play current pop music that crunks a crowd during a football game to playing classical pieces during concert season. The new style of the marching has created new friendly rivalries against similar styled local high school bands such as the Blanche Ely Tigers, the Dillard Panthers, the Miramar Patriots, the Stranahan Dragons, the Boyd H. Anderson Cobras, and the Plantation Colonels.
