Behavior
There have been no reports of the lifespan of De Brazza's monkey in the wild, but it is thought to correspond similarly to other members of Cercopithecus which live up to 30 years in captivity. It is a shy, territorial monkey that lives in small social groups. At the head of each social group is the strongest male, whose job is to protect his fellow group members.
De Brazza's monkey communicates with booming sounds, shaking tree branches, and a variety of facial expressions and movements (e.g. shaking its head when stressed out, or nodding with approval).
Predators of the De Brazza's monkey include the leopard, humans, and common chimpanzees.

Famous quotes containing the word behavior:
“Temperament is the natural, inborn style of behavior of each individual. Its the how of behavior, not the why.... The question is not, Why does he behave a certain way if he doesnt get a cookie? but rather, When he doesnt get a cookie, how does he express his displeasure...? The environmentand your behavior as a parentcan influence temperament and interplay with it, but it is not the cause of temperamental characteristics.”
—Stanley Turecki (20th century)
“I like to think of my behavior in the sixties as a learning experience. Then again, I like to think of anything stupid Ive done as a learning experience. It makes me feel less stupid.”
—P.J. (Patrick Jake)
“The civilizing process has increased the distance between behavior and the impulse life of the animal body.”
—Shoshana Zuboff (b. 1951)
