David Moorcroft - Broadcasting and Charity Work

Broadcasting and Charity Work

David covered athletics events for BBC television and radio between 1983 and 1997.

At the same time, he was developing the Coventry Sports Foundation for which he was Chief Executive from 1981 to 1995 (and remains a Trustee). The Foundation now owns and operates three major sports facilities and numerous related projects serving targeted communities in Coventry. It has attracted over £20 million of capital and £8 million of revenue funding.

For the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, Moorcroft provided track and field analysis for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Dave commentated for Channel 4 at the 2011 World Athletics Championships. During the 2012 London Olympics he again served as a track and field analyst for Canadian television, this time for the CTV-led Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium.

Famous quotes containing the words broadcasting, charity and/or work:

We spend all day broadcasting on the radio and TV telling people back home what’s happening here. And we learn what’s happening here by spending all day monitoring the radio and TV broadcasts from back home.
    —P.J. (Patrick Jake)

Opening the door of charity can create problems.
    Chinese proverb.

What is history? Its beginning is that of the centuries of systematic work devoted to the solution of the enigma of death, so that death itself may eventually be overcome. That is why people write symphonies, and why they discover mathematical infinity and electromagnetic waves.
    Boris Pasternak (1890–1960)
