Dave Stevens - Death and Legacy

Death and Legacy

Before his untimely death in 2008 from leukemia, Stevens was working on a career retrospective collection of his work to be titled Brush with Passion – The Life and Art of Dave Stevens from Spectrum Publishing. That book was published by Underwood Books in 2008.

His work has had a significant influence on comic book and fantasy illustrators, among them Adam Hughes.

Famous quotes containing the words death and/or legacy:

For the bright side of the painting I had a limited sympathy. My visions were of shipwreck and famine; of death or captivity among barbarian hordes; of a lifetime dragged out in sorrow and tears, upon some gray and desolate rock, in an ocean unapproachable and unknown.
    Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849)

What is popularly called fame is nothing but an empty name and a legacy from paganism.
    Desiderius Erasmus (c. 1466–1536)
