He married pop singer Jamelia in June 2008, before the pair filed for divorce in November 2009. Together they had a daughter, Tiani, on 21 October 2005. During their relationship he was also step-father to Teja, was was born in 2001. In contrast to the WAGs stereotype, Jamelia was in fact a much more famous celebrity than Byfield. This led to embarrassment for Byfield when Jamelia became engaged in a public spat with Alex Curran, wife of Steven Gerrard; Curran told OK! magazine that " be glad to know I don't know her boyfriend's name but Steven thinks he's lower than a non-league football player."
