The game client is sold for $29.95 USD, which includes one month of game time. A monthly subscription fee of $14.99/month is required to continue playing, with options for discounted longer-term subscription.
After the first anniversary of Darkfall's launch, a 7-day trial was offered for 1€. In May 2010 the trial offer was retired, replaced in June 2010 with a 14-day free trial.
In October 2012, Aventurine announced the following: "Today we stopped charging for Darkfall Online since we’re going to shut down the Darkfall Online service in a month, on November 15th, to make more room for Darkfall Unholy Wars".
