Cyclo-cross Bicycle - Equipment Choice

Equipment Choice

Because ground conditions can vary greatly, equipment choice is extremely important. Add to this the fact that the races are relatively short and that equipment changes are allowed during races and equipment selection can get fanatical. Since tubulars are so common and tires cannot easily be removed from the rim, collections of wheels, not tires, are required for the varying conditions. It is common for racers even at an amateur level to have a pair of race bikes (one to ride and one in the pits) and several wheels to choose from. At the professional level it is essential to have several bikes and wheel collections.

Famous quotes containing the words equipment and/or choice:

Dr. Scofield’s equipment, which you have just seen, radiated waves direct to Professor Houghland’s laboratory. When these waves came in contact with those the professor’s equipment was radiating, they created the interstellar frequency, which is the death ray.
Joseph O’Donnell, and Clifford Sanforth. Arthur Perry (Bela Lugosi)

I am a good horse to travel, but not from choice a roadster. The landscape-painter uses the figures of men to mark a road. He would not make that use of my figure.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
