Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America - Patient and Professional Education and Support

Patient and Professional Education and Support

CCFA offers comprehensive literature and patient support services nationally as well as through its forty regional chapters. CCFA provides information and education for the 1.4 million Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) patients and their families through a variety of periodicals (Take Charge, Under the Microscope), books, awareness campaigns, local chapter events, Webcasts, and through its web site. Due to its extensive public awareness and outreach efforts, the Foundation reaches at least one out of every 18 patients, compared to the Arthritis Foundation, with one out of every 85, or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, with one out of every 435.

CCFA’s Information Resource Center (IRC), accessible via 888.MY.GUT.PAIN and www.ccfa.org, provides accurate, current, disease-related information to the public, health care professionals, patients and their families. The IRC is here to help callers understand diagnosis, treatment, and living with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. IRC information specialists are master's level health professionals. They are available to speak with callers Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

Famous quotes containing the words patient, professional, education and/or support:

I have declared that patience is never more than patient. I too have declared, that I who am not patient am patient.
    Gertrude Stein (1874–1946)

Three words that still have meaning, that I think we can apply to all professional writing, are discovery, originality, invention. The professional writer discovers some aspect of the world and invents out of the speech of his time some particularly apt and original way of putting it down on paper.
    John Dos Passos (1896–1970)

One of the benefits of a college education is, to show the boy its little avail.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Universal suffrage should rest upon universal education. To this end, liberal and permanent provision should be made for the support of free schools by the State governments, and, if need be, supplemented by legitimate aid from national authority.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
