CREATES

Creative Recycling Enviro-Arts Training and Education Service

In partnership with Warwickshire County Council, Artists in Warwickshire Education and Trees are Green (TaG), CREATES is Warwickshire’s first creative recycling centre for schools, pre-schools, further education and community groups. As a new initiative linking arts and education, the resource has been at its home at TaG, Wedgnock Industrial Estate, Warwick for over 12 months.

CREATES encourages an innovative, and pro-active approach to creativity and environmentalism, exploring reject materials, faulty products and otherwise worthless objects to develop new opportunities for communication and creativity in the classroom and beyond. It is a collaboration between the world of industry, commerce, public authorities, educational and community services, and the world of art, culture and environmental agencies. CREATES is a cultural project - and a place for promoting the idea that waste materials can be used as resources.

Famous quotes containing the word creates:

The skyscraper establishes the block, the block creates the street, the street offers itself to man.
    Roland Barthes (1915–1980)

The hill farmer ... always seems to make out somehow with his corn patch, his few vegetables, his rifle, and fishing rod. This self-contained economy creates in the hillman a comparative disinterest in the world’s affairs, along with a disdain of lowland ways. “I don’t go to question the good Lord in his wisdom,” runs the phrasing attributed to a typical mountaineer, “but I jest cain’t see why He put valleys in between the hills.”
—Administration in the State of Arka, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

Making social comment is an artificial place for an artist to start from. If an artist is touched by some social condition, what the artist creates will reflect that, but you can’t force it.
    Bella Lewitzky (b. 1916)
