Conveying Meaning

When asked "What does this painting convey to you?", a person will answer with the conveyed concept of what they think the painting means. The same is true with any abstract information that we receive through our sensory (Sensory_analysis) processes. A billboard with marketing information is the same. The information may be perceived in a number of ways. A person seeing this information may or may not buy the product or service depending on their conveyed concept of that information.

In communication the conveyed meaning of words has been the subject of studies and is an intricate part of human interaction.(CSCC)

Famous quotes containing the words conveying and/or meaning:

Young children constantly invent new explanations to account for complex processes. And since their inventions change from week to week, furnishing the “correct” explanation is not quite so important as conveying a willingness to discuss the subject. Become an “askable parent.”
    Ruth Formanek (20th century)

Everywhere one seeks to produce meaning, to make the world signify, to render it visible. We are not, however, in danger of lacking meaning; quite the contrary, we are gorged with meaning and it is killing us.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
